After World War II, due to the Communist regime and few prospects for a better life in Yugoslavia, Anton Dvoršak decided to run away from the country with his wife and children.
In 1955, in Brazil, he settled down in Duque de Caxias, a municipal district in Rio de Janeiro, where some of his compatriots already resided.
Life was hard and work kept him away from his family during the week, but despite his struggles, he persisted without feeling discouraged.
At the same time, Anton grew concerned about the well being of the community in which he now lived and restless at the sight of impoverished children playing in the streets since there were no public schools in that region.
Anton became so uncomfortable with the precarious situation of his community he pulled the neighborhood together to build a school.
This was the beginning of a period of very hard work and determination.
A natural leader, Anton never lacked any courage and in a short time left an important legacy to many who benefit from his endeavor to this day.
